Daryl was born December 27, 1944, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Dr. Ray and Gladys Spence.  After graduating from Pauls Valley High School in 1963, Daryl went on to obtain his pharmacy degree from the University of Oklahoma.  In 1971, he and his wife, Melinda Broyles Spence moved to Fort Worth.  Daryl opened Spence Pharmacy in west Fort Worth in 1979 and in 2003 he opened Texas Health Care Pharmacy, specializing in hospice care.

Daryl has been active in local, state, and national pharmacy associations in his career serving as president of both Tarrant County Pharmacy Association (TCPA) and Texas Pharmacy Association (TPA) as well as various other leadership positions.  During his tenure as president of TPA, Daryl led a successful effort that created an amendment to the Texas Pharmacy Act.  This amendment enabled hospice patients to receive their medication in a timelier manner.

Daryl has devoted his professional life to serving his patients and independent community pharmacy.  He has been recognized by the National Association of Community Pharmacists (NACP) as Pharmacist of the year in 2005 as well as the lifetime achievement award for TCPA and he was inducted into the American College of Apothecaries in 2006.  Daryl was also honored by the University of Oklahoma of Pharmacy Alumni Association as distinguished alumni of the year in 2006.

In addition to his professional affiliations, Daryl served as vice-president of the University of Oklahoma School of Pharmacy Alumni Association, and on the Dean's Advisory Council for the Texas Tech School of Pharmacy.

Daryl was a 35 year member of Ridglea Christian Church in Fort Worth.  He has served as deacon, elder, board moderator, and trustee.

Linda graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy in 1988. Linda has 18 years experience working as a registered pharmacist in retail and hospice settings. She has been working in the area of hospice for the past 8 years as a dispensing and consulting pharmacist. Linda also does consulting for Intermediate Care Facilities for the Mentally Retarded (ICF-MR). She has done presentations for local and regional hospice nurses organizations. Linda has also been involved in teaching certified medication aide programs and is also IV certified.

Ken graduated from North Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy in 1984. Ken has over 20 years of experience as a registered pharmacist in both hospital and retail settings. He has been working in the hospice arena for the last 8 years both as a pharmacist and as a consultant. He interacts with physicians and nurses primarily for the purposes of making treatment recommendations specific to the needs of hospice patients. Ken attends IDT meetings with various members of the hospice team to discuss medication alternatives and solutions for patients being reviewed. Ken presents various inservices to hospice staff including pain management and CADD pump operations. Ken is IV certified and has successfully completed “Compounding Techniques” presented by Professional Compounding Centers of America.
